Young Musicians

Saturday 5th July, 1:00: this popular annual instrumental concert showcases the talents of young musicians who play a part in the Abbey's musical life. Admission free; retiring collection.


Lunchtime Organ Recitals

Saturdays throughout July and August, all at 12:30 A series of recitals each about an hour long, free with a retiring collection to cover artists' fees and costs and administrative expenses.

12th July - John Keys (Nottingham). An all-Bach programme, including the monumental Passacaglia in C minor. Full details

19th July - Alan Spedding (Beverley Minster) Programme to be announced

26th July - Tom Leech (Ripon Cathedral) Music by Bach, Buxtehude, Coupering, Leighton and Thalben-Ball. Full details

2nd August - Katy McDermott (2007 Oundle award winner) Programme to be announced

9th August - Mark Blatchly (Charterhouse) An all-Bach programme featuring the six Schubler Chorale Prelues Full details

16th August - Young Organists - Warren Smith, Aiden Berry, Ben Rowarth (Hexham). The abbey's own organ scholars.

23rd August - Peter Locke Music by Sweelinck, Bach, Messian and others.  Full details


Closing Concert - Organ & Piano Duo and Choral Greats

Monday 25th August 6 p.m. (note time!) Michael Haynes, Director of Music, and Hugh Morris, Organist, are joined by the Hexham Abbey Chamber Choir in a series of well-loved classics - Bach, Handel, Rachmaninov, Widor and more.

A perfect way to round off a bank holiday in this picturesque part of the world. More information on this concert here
